However, the implementation and prioritization of this subject is often influenced by teachers' perceptions as the main implementers in the field. This study aims to explore the views of physical education teachers regarding the importance of physical education in primary schools as well as the factors that influence their perceptions and also to find out how physical education teachers interpret the urgency of physical education in supporting the motor, cognitive and social development of primary school-age children. The research method used qualitative. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with PJOK teachers from Plumbungan Elementary School. The results showed that the majority of PJOK teachers viewed physical education as a means to build physical fitness, motor skills, sportsmanship values, and student cooperation. However, several obstacles such as limited facilities, minimal time allocation, and lack of stakeholder support are challenges in optimizing learning. The implication of this study emphasizes the need to improve facilities, teacher training, and advocacy for the importance of PJOK in the school curriculum. This can be a reference for policy makers, schools, and teachers in strengthening physical education.
Dita Wardani, Tazkiyatul Mutmainnah, Anis Tasya Dela Puspita, Pathurrohman Pathurrohman Copyright (c) 2025 Dita Wardani, Tazkiyatul Mutmainnah, Anis Tasya Dela Puspita, Pathurrohman Pathurrohman https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://ejournal.imbima.org/index.php/champions/article/view/464 Thu, 20 Nov 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Description of the Implementation of Physical Education Learning for Children with Special Needs with Physical Disabilities at the Bukesra Special Needs School in Aceh http://ejournal.imbima.org/index.php/champions/article/view/621
Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) isone of the compulsory subjects taught at the primary and secondary education levels in Indonesia. This study aims to determine how Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning is implemented for students with physical disabilities (Tuna Daksa) at SLB Bukesra Aceh. This research used a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed using three steps: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research sample consisted of two classroom teachers and two students with physical disabilities. The results showed that PJOK learning at SLB Bukesra Aceh was running fairly well and adapted to the students’ abilities, although it was not yet optimal. Teachers used demonstration, practice, lecture, and question-and-answer methods. Evaluation was based on students’ abilities without a written assessment format. The main obstacles found were that teachers did not come from a physical education background, sports facilities were still limited, and parental support was not yet optimal. Therefore, training for teachers, the addition of disability-friendly sports facilities, and greater parental involvement are needed to improve PJOK learning for students with physical disabilities.
Zahara Zahara, Zulfikar Zulfikar, Muhammad Iqram Copyright (c) 2025 Zahara Zahara, Zulfikar Zulfikar, Muhammad Iqram https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://ejournal.imbima.org/index.php/champions/article/view/621 Fri, 21 Nov 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Utilization of Traditional Games in Physical Education Learning for Elementary School Students’ Motor Reading http://ejournal.imbima.org/index.php/champions/article/view/465
This study aims to describe the use of traditional games in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning as an effort to develop elementary school students' motor skills. Traditional games are considered relevant to the characteristics of elementary school students who tend to be active and enjoy playing, and are in line with the objectives of PJOK learning which not only emphasize physical aspects, but also social and emotional aspects. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study were PJOK teachers and students at an elementary school. The results of the study showed that traditional games such as rope jumping, hide and seek, gobak sodor, and engklek. can improve students' gross motor skills, such as balance, agility, and coordination of movement. In addition, this activity also fosters cooperation, sportsmanship, and a spirit of togetherness among students. In conclusion, the use of traditional games in PJOK learning is very effective in developing elementary school students' motor aspects in a fun and contextual way. Therefore, teachers suggest integrating traditional games as an alternative active learning strategy that is appropriate to child development.
Septira Nafa’atul Udzma, Azida Gina Ulya, Azizah Nailul Husna, Pathurrahman Pathurrahman Copyright (c) 2025 Septira Nafa’atul Udzma, Azida Gina Ulya, Azizah Nailul Husna, Pathurrahman Pathurrahman https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://ejournal.imbima.org/index.php/champions/article/view/465 Thu, 20 Nov 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Analysis of the Effectiveness of the Plyometric Training Method in Improving Sprint Athletes’ Performance http://ejournal.imbima.org/index.php/champions/article/view/546
This study aims to explore and understand the experiences and perceptions of sprint athletes at SMA Negeri 1 Kota Tanjungbalai regarding the implementation of plyometric training methods to improve their performance. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed, involving 10 sprint athletes from the school’s athletics extracurricular program who had participated in plyometric training for at least three months. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and training documentation. Data analysis was conducted using thematic coding techniques to identify patterns and meanings in the athletes’ experiences during plyometric training. The results indicate that athletes experienced significant improvements in speed, explosive strength, and mental readiness during competitions after regularly undergoing plyometric training. Additionally, motivation and training discipline increased because the method was considered challenging and varied. However, some athletes expressed concerns about injury risks if training techniques were not performed correctly. This study emphasizes the importance of a holistic training approach and professional supervision in implementing plyometric training to optimally enhance sprint athletes’ performance.
Irfan Irfan Copyright (c) 2025 Irfan Irfan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://ejournal.imbima.org/index.php/champions/article/view/546 Tue, 14 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0000
