This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing local cultural values through ethnosport-based learning within the context of physical education. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through classroom observations, interviews with Physical Education (PJOK) teachers, and documentation studies of learning activities that utilized traditional games as learning media. The findings indicate that ethnosport-based learning is able to foster character values such as sportsmanship, cooperation, responsibility, and respect for local culture. The integration of ethnosport in physical education not only increases students’ participation in physical activities but also serves as an effective medium for instilling cultural and moral values. The implications of this study suggest that ethnosport-based physical education can become an effective learning strategy to enhance students’ active participation while strengthening cultural identity and character development, thereby supporting the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile and the reinforcement of national character in the era of globalization.

2026-03-22T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Salahudin Salahudin, Syukri Syukri https://ejournal.imbima.org/index.php/champions/article/view/636 The Gap Between the Goals of Physical Education and the Reality of Its Practice in MI Walisongo Semarang 2025-12-08T01:37:40+00:00 Abdur Rouf uff291003@gmail.com Diah Ayu Pitaloka 23030960113@student.walisongo.ac.id Pathurrohman Pathurrohman pathurrohman46@gmail.com
This study aims to explore the gap between the ideal goals of physical education in the curriculum and its actual practice at MI Walisongo Semarang. This issue is crucial since physical education in Islamic elementary schools often faces limitations in facilities, time allocation, and teacher competence. The research employed a qualitative approach with an intrinsic case study design, involving a physical education teacher, the school principal, and students as participants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal three main themes: (1) teachers’ adaptive practices amid limited resources, (2) reflective understanding of the goals of physical education, and (3) the integration of Islamic values within physical activities. Despite not having a sports education background, the teacher demonstrated creativity through modified tools, game-based learning, and contextual teaching strategies. Physical education activities not only fostered physical fitness but also strengthened students’ character and spirituality. The results reinforce Bourdieu’s theory of social practice regarding the interplay between agency and structure in education. Practically, this study highlights the importance of continuous professional development for non-specialist PE teachers and institutional support to enhance value-based physical education in Islamic schools. This study offers a unique contribution by depicting the dynamics of learning from the perspective of the non-linear teacher, which is the primary focus. Academically, the results of this research open up new discussion about adaptive pedagogy in the context of Islamic education with structural constraints.
2026-02-13T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Abdur Rouf, Diah Ayu Pitaloka, Pathurrohman Pathurrohman https://ejournal.imbima.org/index.php/champions/article/view/743 The Effect of Lower-Body Strength Training Using Ankle Weights on the Straight-Kick Ability of Athletes from the IKSPI Kera Sakti Timika 2026-03-26T06:47:52+00:00 Baiq Sri Wahyuni sutirtahabibi@gmail.com Habibi Sutirta sutirtahabibi@gmail.com Maria Letisia marialetisia92@gmail.com
In general, Pencak Silat techniques include punches, kicks, grabs, throws, takedowns, locks, blocks, backhand strikes, scratches, thrusts, strikes, slashes, and jabs. (Gunawan. A, 2007). A physical component that plays a significant role in every sport, including Pencak Silat, is lower-body explosive power. Ankle weight training is an exercise designed to enhance the strength and performance of the lower-body muscles, performed by applying weight to the lower legs (Girsang & Hasibuan, 2012). The research was conducted at the IKSPI Kera Sakti Pencak Silat Academy in Timika, Papua. This was a pre-experimental study. The design was a one-group pretest-posttest design. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant effect of lower-body power training using the ankle-weight method on the straight-kick ability of athletes from the IKSPI Kera Sakti Timika, as evidenced by a pretest average score of 10.13, which increased in the posttest, with the average score for straight-kick ability reaching 15.20. The t-test results also show that the calculated t-value of 8.264 > the critical t-value of 1.7613 (df 14), with a significance level of p = 0.000 < 0.05. Based on the research results, it is concluded that “There is a significant effect of lower-body muscle power training using the Ankle Weight Method on straight-kick ability among athletes at the IKSPI Kera Sakti Timika.
2026-03-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Baiq Sri Wahyuni, Habibi Sutirta, Maria Letisia
